Is This One Of Those Pyramid Things? - MLM Objection

If you’ve been doing some prospecting for you’re MLM business, I’m sure you’ve heard this question/objection:

“Is this one of those pyramid things?”.

When I asked my upline how to address this objection, he taught me to say that every major corporation in the world is a pyramid. There is president of the corporation, there is a vice president underneath him and there are people under the vice president as well. The lower the level with in the corporate pyramid the more people there are on that lever that are getting paid less then the level above them. If that wasn’t convincing the prospect, I was equipped with another “awesome” answer, the real answer which delved into the core differences between pyramids schemes and legitimate network marketing companies.

I always used these answers, usually with no to little results. And then it hit me,

“Why address a question coming from someone who’s obviously ignorant” (especially since it gets me nowhere anyway). Additionally, the amount of time I spent arguing about this couldn’t be justified even if I was having a good time doing this (which I wasn’t)”.

The truth is, the answers to this question should be part of your general knowledge base about your industry, MLM . However, if you plan to explain all of this to your prospect before he joins, trust me, you’ll get burned out and quit before you achieve any success.

What I say when I get this objection is the following:

“No it’s not. Are you looking to get into one?”.

This answer gets the issue aside without me having to argue about it while waisting my valuable time and patience. Interestingly enough, I heard Todd Falcone give the same advice to one of the callers to his weekly training call titled “MLM Power Hour“. He also added that the people who get this objection more often then others are the ones who are thinking about too much; “Oh, I really hope that I’m not going to get the pyramid question again”. Often times we bring about what we think about, even though what we’re thinking about is not what we want.

P.S. even though I previously expressed my general dislike to to the huge variety of “how to products” that we are spammed and bombarded with on a constant bases, ToddFalcone is one of the best MLM trainers I’ve heard so far. If you plan on buying his training products, I assure you, you’ll get your every pennie’s worth.

A special note of thanks to Todd for everything he’s doing to benefit the network marketing community.
